The privately held Dart Container Corporation, founded and headquartered in Mason, and one of Lansing’s largest employers, is an industry leader in the development, manufacturing and distribution of foodservice packaging solutions. Dart is the largest manufacturer of cups, plates, containers, lids, and straws in the world with more than 40 locations in seven countries and employs about 15,000 people worldwide with approximately 1,500 people in the Mason World Headquarters alone. Since acquiring Solo and Sweetheart Cups in 2012, Dart continues to expand its primary operations in Mason by investing hundreds of millions of dollars in capital equipment along with office and manufacturing facility expansions creating thousands of permanent and temporary new jobs. In addition, auto parts supplier Gestamp (located less than a mile from Beacon Lake) announced in October, 2016 that it will be investing over the next few years to expand its operations and create new jobs. As for supply, Beacon Lake is the newest product in the submarket and there is no new multi-family developments currently planned.
